Amorgos
Island Eastern Cyclades Greece
The French know Amorgos thanks to Luc Besson's film The Big Blue
- shot on the island. Dramatically rugged Amorgos was once renowned
as a place of political exile. Some years ago the first few adventurous
travelers became drawn by its laid back atmosphere. Now, although
still off the beaten track, it does draw crowds in high season. With
good bars and tavernas, great walking, at least one really good sandy
beach and a charming Cycladic Chora perched on high; Amorgos can still
lay claim to be the perfect get away
Amorgos island is an ideal escape - Traditional white washed houses
and blue water sandy beaches.
