ELAFONISI
ISLAND, GREECE: Elafonisos island is a small island just south of
Neapolis and north of Kythira island, popular with Greek holiday makers
in the Summer, which has so far remained undiscovered and a well kept
secret from the rest of foreign visitors that choose to holiday in Greece.
Elafonisi village is well known for it's superb sandy beaches, blue waters
and great fish tavernas. Elafonisos island is an ideal location for sun
worshippers. The island has some of the best beaches in the Mediterranean
and it is ideal if you want to have a peaceful vacation in a traditional
Greek island that has been left untouched by mass tourism.
HOW TO GET TO ELAFONISI VILLAGE, ELAFONISOS ISLAND: Elafonisos
island is located south of Neapolis in the Laconia region of the Peloponnese,
and just a 10 minute boat journey away. From Neapolis, and also from the
village of Viglafia approximately 14 kilometers from Neapolis the boats
to Elafonisi shuttle back and forth from morning till late at night. Approximate
cost for the ferry to Elafonisos island is 1 Euro per person and around
8 Euro for a car.
Getting to Neapolis from Athens by car you travel via Tripoli and Sparta
reaching Elafonisos in approximately 5 hours or so. You can also get to
Elafonisos island, by taking the bus from Athens to Neapoli.. |
