One of the lesser known gems of the Cyclades. The Hora main town is a beautiful example of the Cycladic style with windy streets and brilliant white houses perched on precipitous cliffs overlooking the Aegean; giving it something of a 'Santorini' feel. Bourgainvillea, azaleas and hibiscous adorn the archways and houses of the town making it a delight to wander around. Folegandros offers all the beauty and charm of the better known islands but without intrusive overcommercialization most of the islanders still make a living from fishing and farming and many of the accommodations are of a very high standard. The water is crystal clear and there are some excellent pebble beaches.
